Agyepong-Mensah, Denise
Balogianni, Evangelia
Evangelia Balogianni holds an LL.B. from the University of Athens and an M.A. in European Law from Open University of Cyprus.
For 12 years (2001-2013) she served as a freelance lawyer linguist for the European Central Bank, translating legal and financial documents from English into Greek.
Since 2013, she is a freelance translator with the translation department of the Court of Justice of the European Union.
Since 2016, she teaches a Legal English and Translation seminar addressed to candidates to the Greek National School of Judges, in the framework of exam preparation courses organised by Nomiki Bibliothiki Publishing House & Lifelong Learning Center.
She has also taught a seminar on “Legal Translation and EU Terminology”.
On top of translation, her professional activity also involves authoring books and book chapters in collaboration with Nomiki Bibliothiki, including: “English-Greek / Greek-English Legal Dictionary”, 4th ed. (2021) (author), “Legal Documents in Foreign Languages – Translation Exercises and Legal Terminology” (2020) (contributor), “Civil Procedure Diagrams” 4th ed. (2022) (author), “The New Code of Civil Procedure”, (2022) (contributor), “Non-contentious Proceedings”, (2018) (contributor), “Enforcement”, (2019) (contributor).
Prior to the above, she worked for several years as the main editor for “Diki” law journal, regularly drafting annotations on judgments of Greek civil courts.
Barisic, Jasmina
Jasmina Barišić holds a Bachelor’s Degree in English Language and Literature and is an official court translator and interpreter for the English language.
Jasmina is the founder of the Speak Easy Foreign Language Center, which has been successfully preparing participants for various types of internationally recognized certificates for 20 years. Jasmina is also a holder of the CELTA certificate, specialising in the methodology of teaching foreign languages.
With great dedication, she approaches the preparation of her lectures using innovative and creative teaching methods in order to enable her students to learn foreign languages more easily and quickly. Jasmina has lectured at various international conferences on Legal English.
Chojecka, Agnieszka A
Agnieszka an independent English tutor with over 23 years of experience in designing courses for legal, financial and business English learners.
Agnieszka’s lifelong passion for creating her own study materials resulted in the launch of a unique website for learners of legal English.
Agnieszka studied English Philology at the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, Poland. Thanks to her first business and legal English students, most of whom valued their time and expected fast language progress, she has developed highly effective teaching and learning methods.
Since 2004 Agnieszka has worked exclusively with legal and financial professionals designing individual and group courses for recognised Polish law firms and legal departments of international companies in Poland.
Outside of work Agnieszka’s fascination with education continues as she avidly reads about recent developments in psychology, neurolinguistics, explores memorising techniques or delves into the Socratic method of teaching. One of her teaching goals is to encourage legal English students to become independent language learners.
Giampieri, Patrizia
Patrizia Giampieri, PhD is an adjunct professor of English at the University of Camerino (MC, Italy). She is a registered translator and interpreter for the Court of Perugia (Italy). Her last scientific monograph is titled “Legal machine translation explained: MT in legal contexts” (Cambridge Scholars Publishing, 2023).
Lattanzi, Catia
Catia Lattanzi is a conference interpreter and lecturer in simultaneous interpreting. In 2020, she was elected President of the Italian Association of Legal Interpreters and Translators (AssITIG, Associazione italiana traduttori e interpreti giudiziari). In March 2023 she was elected as member of EULITA’s ExCom (European Legal Interpreters and Translators).
Registered with the Chamber of Commerce of Milano-MonzaBrianza-Lodi in the category translators and interpreters, she is deeply committed to training and deontology.
Orfanou,Mary
Mary Orfanou is a law graduate (University of Athens, Greece) and holds postgraduate degrees in Mediation and in Private Law (Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, Spain).
A freelance legal translator and editor, she mainly deals with legal documents drafted in Greek, English, Spanish, French or Polish.
For several years, she has been consistently involved in adult education and training, first in mediation and other ADR and later in the field of legal English.
Mary has designed and delivered numerous seminars for legal and other professionals, including lawyers, judges, paralegals and translators. She has successfully participated in three freelance translator competitions organised by the Court of Justice of the European Union.
She has translated a book from English into Greek (L. Love & J. Stulberg, The Middle Voice: Mediating Conflict Successfully, 2nd ed., Greek version published by Nomiki Bibliothiki, 2014) and has co-authored the Legal English chapter in “Legal Documents in Foreign Languages”, a multilingual legal terminology manual published in Greek, in 2020 (Nomiki Bibliothiki).
Mary enjoys linguistic jokes and will probably start learning a new language anytime now!
Pietrzyk-Kowalec, Paulina- PhD, professor affiliate of Uczelnia Biznesu i Nauk Stosowanych “Varsovia.”
Paulina Pietrzyk-Kowalec is an English philologist, a scholar, a holder of the title of PhD in Strategic Management at Apsley Business School in London, a lecturer at WSB Merito University in Warsaw, a researcher on the impact of artificial intelligence on different branches of business, an expert in Legal English, an author of valued scientific publications, a member of the global scientific association WASET, a speaker and an award winner at international scientific conferences.
Teichert, Tonya
Tonya Teichert is an American living in Germany who has been teaching Medical & Legal English for 17 years. Her background began in critical care nursing where she used those skills to begin a career as a Legal Nurse Consultant.
She went on to attend law school and upon completion, received her MBA. She worked, primarily, in insurance defense and medical malpractice and product liability litigation. After moving to Germany, she began teaching specialized language courses for both private clients and institutions, including doctors, nurses, nursing students, medical organizations, corporate legal seminars, and university legal programs, as well as training-the-trainer courses for Occupational Health and Safety.
Parastatidou, Sofia
Sofia Parastatidou (Special Counsel) is a practising solicitor admitted in England and Wales, a member of the International Bar Association and New York State Bar. She has been training lawyers, accountants, and notaries as well as students at various Universities, Bar Associations, In-house. She is the founder and President of ILETA (International Legal English Teachers’ Academy) and the author of Legal English (Pearson 2021).
